 The Tarot Card Reader $45

I love tarot cards and the mysticism they hold. This is my tribute to a vintage tarot card reader, like you would find in the travelling circusses and sideshows from long ago.

This piece features a lovely stamped mystical lady on a repurposed texturized 1.75" by 2.5" piece of copper. Beneath the copper hangs a vintage upcycled television tube from a 1940's television. I have wired wrapped this in antiqued aged copper wire and it adds a very mystical charm to the piece. The piece is mounted with two very sturdy rings onto a recycled chain that I found at my local flea market. Teh chain has large gold toned ovals in varying sizes and a trio of beutiful beads on each side in wood and glass. The chain hangs 22" long.

This is a very striking piece. It is one of a kind, all from upcycled repurposed parts I have found and antiqued and altered. I find my treasures at antique stores, thrift stores and my local flea markets. "Old is new Again" and this is a one of a kind piece and you can be proud that it has been made from upcycled parts.

Carnival is a butterfly of winter whose last real flight of Mardi Gras forever ends his glory" (Perry Young)

This whimsical piece, "La Carnivale" It is meant to be an heirloom piece and I am sure you will love it as much as I do!

This altered piece of jewelry made with vintage and repurposed bits from my travels has been constructed and made to be one of a kind. It is a treasure trove for the eyes and will be cherished heirloom piece for years to come. While it is fragile in nature, it is meant to be worn and so long as it is stored carefully, it should last you many years to come.

The focal for this Carnivale Piece is a hand antiqued wooden repurposed architecture piece that I have antiqued, painted, sanded, repainted and distressed. In the center of the beautifully distressed piece is an antique Frozen Charlotte head or Penny Doll head. The head has also been distressed and antiqued and and adorned with vintage ribbon in a dark chocolate colour. Adorning the bow around her neck is one Swarovski crystal. Also adourning the wooden piece are pink Swarovski crystals which have been carefully glued on. On either side of the piece and attached to the beautiful chain are strands of overdyed ribbon, perfect for your Carnivale or Mardi Gras themed ensemble! Then the chain of this wonderful piece, has been made up of vintage bits and pieces of metalwork, charms, glass beads, glass lampwork beads, and wooden beads, all strung beautifully for an ecclectic, feminine and antique look. It is a "one of a kind"

The wooden focal piece of this necklace is 4" by 4.5" and the frozen charlotte head is 1" by 1.5". The chain on which it hangs is just over 20". The clasp is a brass screw clasp and the hardware is all brass or gold toned. I found most of these pieces at vintage stores, antique stores or on my travels. It truly is a remarkable piece.

I hand make each piece and it is one of a kind. I use altered bits and pieces and found objects in my items that I find on my adventures. I also upcycle and repurpose pieces found from thriftstores, antique stores and markets.

 Circus History

In the past, the typical circus was held within an oval or circular showground with tiered seating often flanking the edges. Other circuses performed under a large tent, but in Rome, an open-air stadium served as the arena where an array of public exhibitions took place. Horse races, staged battles, equestrian shows, and chariot competitions unfolded, as spectators cheered and embraced this exhilarating form of entertainment.

Trained exotic animals wowed the crowds, while jugglers and acrobats amused guests before the next battle or race commenced. The circus associated with Rome may have very well stemmed from the Egyptians' display of exotic animals to the Greeks' use of chariot racing as a popular form of entertainment.

Tiered seating ran parallel with the sides of the course, which created a crescent at the ends. People of rank were seating at the lower arrangements, while separate state boxes were offered to the host of the games and their friends. The circus in Ancient Rome also served as a significant event in history because it was the only public scene that allowed men and women to enjoy an event with one another.

The first circus established in Rome was called the Circus Maximus, which was situated in a valley between the Palatine and Aventine hills. Additional circuses in Rome flourished, including the Circus Flaminius, the Circus Neronis, and the Circus of Maxentius.
